About Leslie Martino
Founder and Director of Thrive at Home
Leslie began her teaching career over 20 years ago and spent time as an elementary school teacher and adjunct lecturer for graduate courses focused on the role of the teacher in supporting children’s individual work preferences. She has participated in numerous collaborations between parents, children, and other teachers that focus on seeing and working with children through the lens of descriptive inquiry. She believes that the reflective practices of this kind of inquiry deepen our understanding of children and their capacities.
Studying and knowing children, and honoring their work is a passion that drives Leslie’s past and current pursuits. Nowadays she is homeschooling her four children and organizing learning groups with others. She also works as an educational consultant, writing curriculum, training teachers, and coaching parents in an approach to learning for all ages that is interest-based and child-directed. She is a contributing writer for homeschool publications and has appeared on different podcasts and blogs.
Leslie is also a Pilates instructor and natural health enthusiast. She maintains a blog here at lesliemartino.com geared toward sharing her passion and experiences in the areas of education, homeschooling, motherhood, and intentional living.

“I first saw Leslie speak at a Wild + Free conference about 3 years ago when I was just beginning my homeschool journey. I was in awe of her homeschooling strategies and her beaming authenticity!
Leslie came into my life just when she was supposed to. She was such an answer to prayer in this season of life!
Her programs are not just for beginners, FYI! I did her personal coaching sessions and her 4-week class. Leslie has a way of bringing you back to your “why” from when you started homeschooling and replenishing you. She is so warm and welcoming, really taking the time to get to know you.
Leslie helped me strategize the day-to-day learning, pick out curriculum but so importantly what our family values are, and put that as our priority. Together we decluttered all the jumbled thoughts going on in my mama homeschool brain and I can truly say our homeschool days are now filled with so much more JOY, contentment, and excitement!!!
We laughed, we prayed and we cried. It was such a beautiful experience that I will forever hold in my heart! Leslie is such an amazing coach! Because of her vulnerability, I am a better homeschooling mom.
God is doing big things through her. I describe her program to people as ‘manna from heaven.’ If you have been thinking about taking her class or her personal coaching…don’t think anymore…just click the purchase button. You will NOT regret it!”

“I am so fortunate to have been able to have a private consultation with Leslie. This is my first year homeschooling my children, and my time with Leslie was just what I needed to sift through my swirling thoughts, questions, and doubts, and then solidify my confidence in moving forward.
Coming from a background as a classroom teacher, I was seeking the guidance, expertise, and wisdom of someone who could help me embark on this entirely different path of homeschooling. Leslie was an answer to prayer and a beacon of hope for me!
We had two one-hour sessions. After just one hour together, she was able to understand my values and heart’s desires. She had an incredible ability to listen and to ask questions that get to the heart of my “why” in such a short time.
Even more amazing was how she articulated a vision for my homeschooling that was in me somewhere but that I hadn’t been able to access before my time with her.
I left our time with practical ways to carry out our homeschool and with the encouragement and confidence in what I can personally bring to my family as a mom juggling all the things.
Leslie is warm and welcoming, like an old friend, and I instantly felt comfortable in coming to her authentically with my fears and failures, hopes and dreams. Our homeschool is enriched and deepened because of Leslie’s kind and poignant wisdom.“

“Thrive at Home coaching was a helpful resource for me to continue on in my homeschooling journey from a place of strength and not depletion. I was in need of some direction and tools to be better equipped in the day-to-day.
Leslie is a lovely coach and wise teacher. The 4-week program helped me to be refreshed in the daily grind through recognizing the need for connection and joy over just accomplishing the list of to-dos through control.
The coaching program brought an understanding of the importance of actually living out the values that I hold in homeschooling, not only having those values as ideals. Clarity will be found when inner work is done to lay out life-giving rhythms and routines for my children to thrive in.
Lastly, how things are done truly matter. Better outcomes happen when the HOW of homeschool (also simply read—life) has memorable meaning and focus attached to it that points to joy, connection, discovery, and becoming.“

“With her time and talents, Leslie has empathetically invited me into her space to reflect, reconstitute, and then reestablish a restoration process for our homeschool life. This all has been creating new meaning and renewing passion and focus to our priorities and values. I am truly honored by Leslie and her services.”
