Much of homeschooling is built upon predictable routines and rhythms. That’s not a bad thing. Routines help us create practices that align our time with our values. Our ability to choose and decide how our days will ultimately flow is a gift. However, routines and rhythms can also be the main culprits in our lack of fun.
I based the series on five questions I am frequently asked in some form or another about self-directed learning, or what I sometimes refer to as project-based learning. I hope that this offers some support in your efforts to mentor your children and the learning going on in your home.

Ever feel like you’re a stone’s throw away from the finish line, only to experience a setback?
Sometimes walking with children toward goals can seem haphazard, slow, and very much unlike progress. We expect the path from one achievement to the next to be linear and clear-cut but that’s not always the case.
I’m not sure why poetry and tea pair so well together. Truth be told, there isn’t much that tea doesn’t pair well with in our home. We love tea and relish the opportunity to try new teas often. We also really love poetry.
In December, our family got a dog. Slow winter rhythms brought much-needed rest, sweet moments of togetherness, and expansion in everyone’s heart for this new addition to our family. If that was the end of the story, it still would be a great one.
